AO5 Project officer role requirements and expectations are:
As our Project Officer, you will work within plant biosecurity on the Cooperative Plant Pest and Disease Surveillance Project to:
  • Provide technical advice to stakeholders about the project, manage routine project communications and organise the distribution/upload of project resources.
  • Develop moderately complex project documents, contribute to the development of high-level project documents and review documents drafted by other project staff.
  • Oversee the management of project related documentation in accordance with project procedures (this may involve establishing and/or negotiating procedures) and departmental guidelines.
  • Track project schedules, budgets and milestones and ensure approved changes are made.
  • Research and analyse information, and prepare correspondence, reports, briefings and submissions regarding the development, progress and delivery of project milestones.
  • Research and analyse the project subject area/focus to either identify emerging issues and suggest possible solutions or to inform best practice or to improve project efficiency or to improve the quality of project outcomes.
  • Use appropriate project management techniques, methodologies, and tools (including relevant software) in line with departmental requirements.
  • Use analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills to coordinate multiple tasks within agreed priorities, timeframes and accountabilities.
  • Undertake routine procurement tasks for the project team as directed and authorised under DAF procurement policy and procedure.
Mandatory requirements
  • Knowledge, skills and experience in project management.
  • A current ‘C’ class drivers’ licence. You may be required to travel within Queensland or interstate for work purposes.
Highly desirable requirements
  • A Certificate IV in Project Management Practice or similar from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Experience with state government financial systems will be an advantage.
Term of Engagement:
The term of contract engagement the department is currently seeking for each position is up to 30 June 2025.
