Excavator Operator to join our team in Mackay. The successful candidate will operate heavy machinery to assist in civil construction projects such as earthworks, roadworks, and site preparation. This role requires an individual who can manage excavation tasks with precision and adhere to safety protocols at all times.
Key Responsibilities:• Operate excavators to move and load earth, rock, debris, and other materials.
• Perform trenching, grading, and digging tasks according to site plans and specifications.
• Ensure the safe and efficient operation of machinery by conducting pre-start inspections and routine maintenance checks.
• Collaborate with the construction team to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
• Read and interpret site plans, drawings, and specifications.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Report any equipment issues or malfunctions to the supervisor.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications & Requirements:• Valid Excavator Operator ticket/licence.
• Previous experience (3-5 years) operating excavators in civil construction.
• Knowledge of excavation and trenching techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret site plans.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Physical fitness and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
• Driver’s license and reliable transport.
Desirable Skills:• Experience working on road construction, earthworks, or similar civil projects.
• Familiarity with other heavy equipment (bulldozers, loaders, etc.).
• Knowledge of GPS and laser-guided systems.
