Achieve Group is seeking a
Technical Officer / Scientific Assistant for our client located in Cairns to provide essential technical and operational support in their laboratory environment. As part of this dynamic team, your responsibilities will vary depending on the role classification, with tasks including laboratory-based activities, microbiological services, sample management, and documentation.
This position is an ASAP start until the 30th of June 2025
Role Responsibilities
For the Technical Officer:- Assist in providing high-quality microbiological services to tropical food industries, including tasks such as media preparation, QC/QA practices, routine microbiological examinations, calculations, and documentation, all in line with NATA accreditation for biological testing.
- Ensure the laboratory is maintained, including regular cleaning, decontamination, and the calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Assist in conducting laboratory diagnostic testing according to standard methods and procedures.
- Manage samples effectively from receipt to analysis, including providing reports to clients.
- Enter analytical data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and maintain both hard copy and electronic records.
- Help identify client needs, offer advice on appropriate services, and provide accurate quotes based on the prescribed fee schedule.
For the Scientific Assistant:- Support laboratory tasks such as media preparation, waste decontamination, wash-up, and other essential activities as required by the team.

Essential Requirements- A current ‘C’ class driver’s license.
